About

C'est la Guerre is an adaptation of the popular De Bellis Antiquitatis (DBA) rules to the "horse and musket" era (i.e., early 18th century through the Napoleonic era). There are several adaptations of DBA which have been made for the horse and musket period. Unlike DBA, armies are not limited to a fixed number of units (e.g., 12), instead using point values to construct approximately balanced forces of varying size. Generals and sub-generals are rated on their ability, resulting in larger command radii for more capable generals. For a single command "pip", a general is able to order all units, lines and columns within his command radius. Combat is different than DBA in that units may be disordered and take casualties resulting in degraded performance until they can rally or reform.
