Preparación

1. Connect the four large tiles to form the game board and place it in the center of the table. 2. Randomly place dark gray wall tiles on the non-movable cut-out spaces (corner walls in each corner). 3. Randomly place all remaining wall tiles on the rest of the board spaces. One tile will be left over — this becomes the starting extra wall tile held by the starting player. 4. Deal the 24 treasure cards equally among all players. Each player keeps their cards face-down in front of them, then reveals the top card (their first treasure target). Optionally, players may keep their current target card secret. 5. Place a treasure token on each dark gray tile (excluding the four main corner spaces). 6. Randomly place 6 treasure tokens on light gray 3-way tiles. 7. Randomly place 6 treasure tokens on light gray corner tiles. 8. Each player takes a player miniature and places it on their matching color corner of the board — this is their home corner. 9. Choose a starting player (suggested: the last person to go on a real-life treasure hunt).

Flujo del turno

Play proceeds clockwise starting with the chosen starting player. Each turn has exactly two phases, in order: (1) Tile Slide — the active player inserts the extra wall tile into any movable row or column (marked with an arrow on the board edge), pushing all tiles in that line one space and ejecting the tile at the far end, which becomes the new extra wall tile. The player may orient the inserted tile in any of the four rotations. A player may NOT push the same row or column that the previous player just pushed. (2) Movement — the active player moves their miniature any distance along a connected, unblocked path through the maze, or chooses not to move at all. If the miniature ends on a tile whose treasure token matches the player's current target treasure card, the token is captured (placed on the matching card), the card is optionally discarded, and the next treasure card is revealed as the new target. After capturing all treasures, the player must return their miniature to their home corner to win.

Puntuación y victoria

Race to completion: the first player to capture all their treasure tokens and return their miniature to their home corner wins. There is no point scoring. Puntuación objetivo: Capture all personal treasures and return to home corner Fuentes de puntuación: Capturing all assigned treasure tokens, Returning miniature to home corner after all treasures captured

Reglas que debes conocer

Las reglas más útiles para jugar bien la primera partida.

General

Win by capturing all your treasure tokens and returning your miniature to your home corner.

The goal of the game is to be the first player to capture every treasure token corresponding to the cards in your personal treasure deck, and then move your miniature back to your starting corner space. Only after all treasures are captured and the miniature reaches the home corner is the game won. Note: Some older versions of the game allow an instant win upon capturing the last treasure, without requiring a return to the corner.

Setup

Assemble the board from four large tiles; place dark gray wall tiles on fixed corner spaces, then fill remaining spaces randomly.

Connect the four large tiles to form the full game board and place it at the center of the table. Randomly place dark gray wall tiles on the non-movable cut-out spaces (the corner walls in each corner of the board). These spaces are fixed and cannot be shifted by the tile-sliding mechanic. Place all remaining wall tiles randomly on the rest of the board spaces. One wall tile will be left over after filling all spaces — this is the extra wall tile used by the starting player on their first turn.

Setup

Deal 24 treasure cards equally among all players; each player reveals their top card as their first target.

Shuffle and deal all 24 treasure cards equally among all players. Each player's cards remain face-down as their personal treasure deck. At the start of the game, each player flips over the top card of their deck to reveal their first treasure target. This card is public information by default, but players may optionally agree to keep current target cards secret from other players.

Setup

Place treasure tokens on dark gray tiles (not main corners), on 6 light gray 3-way tiles, and on 6 light gray corner tiles.

During setup, place one treasure token on each dark gray wall tile on the board, excluding the four main corner spaces (home corners). Additionally, randomly place 6 treasure tokens on light gray 3-way tiles, and 6 treasure tokens on light gray corner tiles. This distributes treasure throughout the maze at the start of the game.

Setup

Each player places their miniature on their matching color home corner.

Each player selects a player miniature and places it on the corner space of the board that matches their miniature's color. This corner is their home corner for the entire game. Players must return here after capturing all their treasures to win.

Turn structure

Each turn has two mandatory phases: (1) slide a row or column, then (2) move your miniature.

On each player's turn, they must perform two actions in order: First, insert the extra wall tile to slide a movable row or column (see rule: tile_slide). Second, move their miniature through the maze (see rule: miniature_movement). Both phases happen every turn. Play passes clockwise after each turn.

Movement

Insert the extra wall tile into any movable row or column, pushing tiles along and ejecting the far tile as the new extra tile.

The active player takes the extra wall tile and inserts it into any movable row or column — identified by an arrow on the edge of the game board. The tile may be oriented in any of the four 90-degree rotations before insertion. The entire row or column shifts one space, and the tile at the opposite end is ejected from the board. That ejected tile becomes the new extra wall tile, which will be used by the next player. The player may insert from either side of a movable row or column.

Restriction

You may not push back the same row or column that the previous player just pushed.

A player cannot insert the extra wall tile into the same row or column that the immediately previous player slid during their turn. This prevents a player from simply undoing the previous move. All other movable rows and columns remain valid choices.

Informe estratégico

Tile Slide Timing

Since you can rotate the extra wall tile in any of four orientations before inserting it (rule: tile_orientation), always plan your slide to simultaneously open a path toward your target treasure AND block opponents' paths where possible. The best slides achieve both goals at once.

Exploiting the No-Reverse Rule

Because opponents cannot reverse the row or column you just pushed (rule: no_reverse_push), you can use your slide to lock in a favorable path configuration for at least one full round. Prioritize slides that open a route to your treasure and that opponents cannot immediately undo.

Treasure Token Wrapping

Treasure tokens stay on ejected tiles and wrap to the opposite side of the board (rule: treasure_token_stays_on_ejected_tile). You can deliberately push a target treasure tile off one edge to move it closer to your miniature's current position on the opposite side.

End-Game Return Path

Once you capture your second-to-last treasure and reveal the final target card (rule: reveal_next_card), begin planning your route back to your home corner simultaneously. Since the win requires returning to the corner (rule: win_condition), players who capture their last treasure near their home corner gain a significant advantage.

Miniature Repositioning via Ejection

If your miniature is stuck in an inaccessible region of the maze, you can intentionally set up a situation where a future opponent's slide ejects your tile, wrapping your miniature to the opposite side (rule: miniature_pushed_off_board). Alternatively, be cautious: opponents may deliberately push your miniature away from your target.

Secret Target Card Option

If using the optional secret card rule (rule: treasure_card_deal), opponents cannot efficiently block your path to your target. This significantly reduces the effectiveness of the blocking strategy and makes the game more about personal path optimization than denying opponents.

Preguntas frecuentes y casos límite

A player's miniature is on a tile that gets ejected during the tile slide phase. Where does it go, and can it still move afterward?

The miniature is immediately placed on the tile that entered the board on the opposite side of the same row or column (i.e., the inserted tile's new position). After this relocation, the player still completes their normal movement phase from that new position.

A tile with a treasure token on it gets pushed off the board. Is the treasure lost?

No. Treasure tokens stay on their tile regardless of ejection. The tile re-enters from the opposite side of the same row or column, bringing the treasure token with it.

A player slides a row that causes their target treasure tile to wrap around to the opposite side, and then moves their miniature onto that tile. Do they capture the treasure?

Yes. The tile slide happens first, repositioning the treasure tile. The player then moves their miniature in the movement phase. If they end on the tile containing their target treasure, they capture it normally.

A player captures their last treasure and their miniature is already on or can reach their home corner in the same turn. Do they win immediately?

Yes. If after capturing the last treasure the player's miniature is already on their home corner, or if they can move there in the same movement phase, they win immediately. The return to the corner does not require a separate turn.

The previous player pushed a row from the left side. Can the current player push the same row from the right side?

No. The restriction applies to the entire row or column regardless of which side it is pushed from. If the previous player slid a given row or column in any direction, the current player cannot slide that same row or column at all.

Can players hide which treasure they are currently seeking?

Yes, as an optional rule. By default, each player's currently revealed treasure card is visible to all. However, players may agree before the game to keep current target cards secret. This must be decided as a group before play begins.

Does a player win the moment they capture their last treasure, or do they need to return to their corner?

In the standard rules described here, a player must capture all treasures AND return their miniature to their home corner to win. However, some older versions of the game grant an instant win upon capturing the last treasure without requiring a return to the corner. Check which version you are playing before the game starts.
