About

Game largely inspired by Mille Bornes (One Thousand Milestones, with its green lights, punctured tires, etc) added with a mechanism of recipe to follow (each player is racing to bake a cake), this game was published around the late 1970s/early 1980s to promote the cake brand "Alsa". In Le Petit Patissier (French for "The Little Pastry Chef"), each player receives a recipe card during setup, as well as a hand of 7 cards. Each on turn, players draw a card then try to follow their recipe by building a tableau made of a Chef's hat (mandatory to start cooking), then a couple of kitchen utensils and all the necessary ingredients (flour, eggs, butter, etc.). The first player able to bake their cake will win. However, every other chef will try before that to hinder others' progression by attacking with various incidents (flat cake, burning cake, etc). Some rare cards in the game allow you to become a special chef, definitely protected by such attacks. While typical of the time for its mechanisms (Take-that, draw and discard), Le Petit Patissier is a hard to find collector's item.
