Acerca de este juego

Space has become a giant dumping ground for jettisoned components and derelict spacecraft. But the tide could be turned by clever star pilots hoping to expand their tiny ships. Navigating through a sea of asteroids and recyclable parts, pilots collect resources and salvaged ship modules in a quest to build the largest and most complete starship. Preparación

Integrate any or all of the four expansion tiles (The Strange Nebula, The Cosmic Anomaly, The Black Hole, and The Galactic Exchange™ Platform) into the existing Space Junkyard board layout according to the base game's setup rules. Each tile introduces a unique special zone that interacts with spaceship movement and resource management.

Flujo del turno

Players take turns moving their spaceships across the board, spending movement points to traverse tiles. Special expansion tiles impose unique rules during movement: some tiles require resource discards upon entry, some cannot be occupied at turn's end, one cannot be entered at all, and one allows resource trading while docked mid-move. All special tile effects resolve during the movement phase of a player's turn.

Reglas que debes conocer

Las reglas más útiles para jugar bien la primera partida.

Movement

Spaceships may move across or stop on The Strange Nebula.

Spaceships may move across or stop on The Strange Nebula. This tile does not block movement — a spaceship may both pass through it and end its turn on it.

Resource management

Moving onto The Strange Nebula costs one resource of the owner's choice, every time.

Each time a spaceship moves onto The Strange Nebula tile, its owner must immediately discard one resource of any type of their choosing. This discard is triggered every single time a spaceship enters the tile — including when passing through it. If a spaceship crosses this tile multiple times in one turn, one resource must be discarded for each entry.

Restriction

Spaceships may NOT end their turn on The Cosmic Anomaly.

A spaceship cannot end its turn while occupying The Cosmic Anomaly. A spaceship may stop on this tile temporarily during its movement phase, provided it moves off of The Cosmic Anomaly before its turn ends. Failing to move off the tile before the turn ends would be an illegal move.

Movement

It costs no movement points to move onto The Cosmic Anomaly.

Moving a spaceship onto The Cosmic Anomaly tile costs zero movement points. The spaceship may then continue moving using its remaining movement points, and must do so before the turn ends since it cannot rest on this tile.

Restriction

Spaceships can never move onto The Black Hole under any circumstances.

The Black Hole is completely impassable. Spaceships cannot move onto this tile — not to pass through it, not to stop on it, not for any reason. It acts as a permanent obstacle on the board that spaceships must navigate around.

Restriction

Spaceships may NOT end their turn on The Galactic Exchange™ Platform.

A spaceship cannot end its turn while occupying The Galactic Exchange™ Platform. A spaceship may dock (pause) on this tile during its movement phase to use its trading ability, but must move off the tile before its turn ends.

Trading

While docked at The Galactic Exchange™ Platform, a player may trade two resources of one type for one resource of a different type from the pool.

When a spaceship is docked (paused mid-movement) on The Galactic Exchange™ Platform, its owner may perform a trade: exchange any two resources of a single type from their supply with one resource of a different type drawn from the resource pool. After trading (or choosing not to trade), the spaceship must continue moving and leave the tile before the turn ends.

Informe estratégico

Conserve Movement Points Before The Cosmic Anomaly

Since The Cosmic Anomaly costs zero movement points to enter but still requires movement points to exit, players must always ensure they have at least one movement point in reserve when entering it. Entering with zero remaining movement points would leave a spaceship illegally stranded there at turn's end.

Plan Routes to Avoid Costly Strange Nebula Crossings

Each passage through The Strange Nebula costs a resource, and the cost applies every time a spaceship enters the tile. Players should plan routes that minimize repeated crossings, especially when low on resources.

Use The Galactic Exchange™ Platform to Convert Surplus Resources

The 2-for-1 trade ratio at The Galactic Exchange™ Platform is most valuable when a player has accumulated a surplus of one resource type and needs a specific different resource. Since you cannot end your turn there, plan your movement so you have enough points to dock, trade, and depart in a single turn.

Use The Black Hole as a Positional Blocker

Since no spaceship can ever enter The Black Hole, it functions as a permanent, absolute obstacle on the board. Players can use it to predict and restrict opponents' movement paths, positioning their own spaceship on the only viable routes around it.

Preguntas frecuentes y casos límite

A player moves onto The Cosmic Anomaly for free — do they still need movement points to leave?

Yes. The free movement only applies to entering The Cosmic Anomaly. The spaceship still requires movement points to move off of it to any adjacent tile. Players must ensure they retain enough movement points to vacate the tile before their turn ends.

A spaceship crosses The Strange Nebula twice in one turn — how many resources are discarded?

Two resources must be discarded — one each time the spaceship moves onto the tile. The discard triggers on every entry, so crossing it twice in the same turn costs two resources total.

Can a player trade at The Galactic Exchange™ Platform and still complete movement off the tile in the same turn?

Yes. The trade happens while the spaceship is docked (paused mid-movement). After trading, the player must use remaining movement points to move off the tile before the turn ends. The trade itself does not end the turn.

Can any special ability, card, or effect allow a spaceship to move onto The Black Hole?

No. The rulebook states spaceships can 'never' move onto The Black Hole, with explicit emphasis. It is an absolute restriction with no exceptions.

Does the resource discard on The Strange Nebula apply whether a spaceship stops there or just passes through?

Yes, the discard applies in both cases. The rule triggers whenever a spaceship 'moves onto' the tile — regardless of whether it ultimately stops there or continues through it.

Can a player trade resources of two different types at The Galactic Exchange™ Platform in a single docking?

No. The trade is specifically two resources of a single type in exchange for one resource of a different type. The two resources offered must be of the same type; mixed-type offerings are not permitted.
