About

"Say Goodbye to the Tie" In this version of Tic-Tac-Toe, boomerang-shaped red and white pieces are individually placed and can contribute to making either an X or an O. The player taking the white pieces tries to make X's, while the red player makes O's. This approach results in three twists. The first twist is that the X or O formed can be either of one color or both colors; only the shape (X or O) matters. The second twist is that there is a fourth way to win, a semi-diagonal. Since there are no distinct squares, an X or an O can straddle the border of what would be a traditional tic tac toe square, so the diagonal doesn't need to stretch from corner to corner. The third twist is that even if no player achieved three-in-a-row during the placement of their pieces, players then take turns flipping their pieces until a three-in-a-row occurs.
