Dossier

ALERT ALERT ALERT ALERT ALERT ALERT “Admiral, sensors have picked up three Nickel Class Cruisers dropping out of warp.” “Scramble the Centurions. Have the Dimestroyers set up a defensive perimeter around our HeadQuarter. If it’s a fight our enemies want, we’ll pay them back in kind.” Welcome to 97 Cent Space Battle, where starships look suspiciously like coins and space combat is fought in two dimensions (unless the ships fall off the table). In this game you’ll flip, flick, and spin your ships in an all-out assault on your opponent’s HeadQuarter. The game itself is a free rules download. You'll need some table space and 97 cents for each player (1 quarter, 3 dimes, 6 nickels, and 12 pennies). 97 Cent Space Battle is played in two phases. During the deploy phase, the fleets warp to the combat area. Players flip their coins onto the table. The outcome of each toss (heads or tails) determines whether the ship made a perfect warp and can activate immediately. Just flick your ship at an enemy to blow it up. During the assault phase, players take turns activating their surviving ships, until a player loses his Headquarter or his fleet is destroyed.
