This Privacy Policy describes how GamesBond ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the GamesBond platform ("Service").

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in via Google or Discord, we receive your name, email, and profile image from those providers. We use this for authentication, account recovery, and service communications.

User-Generated Content

We store the reviews, comments, play logs, game collections, and other content you create through the Service. This data is necessary to provide the core functionality of the platform.

Usage Data

We track page views and feature usage for analytics and service improvement. Our gamification system records actions such as submitting reviews, logging plays, and browsing games for XP and badge calculations.

Automatically Collected Data

We collect standard web server logs including IP addresses, browser type, and pages visited. We use cookies for session management and authentication.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide the Service: Host your content, display reviews and guides, track your game collection and play history
  • AI Features: Send game data to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate game knowledge documents and answer questions
  • Gamification: Calculate XP, badges, quests, and leaderboard rankings based on your activity
  • Price Alerts: Send email notifications when tracked game prices drop
  • Newsletter: Send periodic digest emails if you subscribe to our newsletter
  • Improve the Service: Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve content and features
  • Safety: Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and violations of our Terms

3. AI Data Processing

When AI features are used (game knowledge generation, Q&A), game information and context are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. This data is subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train their models. No personal user data is sent to the AI provider — only game-related content.

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these cases:

  • AI Provider: Game content sent to Anthropic for AI processing (as described above)
  • Public Content: Published reviews, comments, and profile information are visible to all visitors
  • Affiliate Partners: When you click an affiliate link, the retailer may collect data per their own privacy policy
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law, subpoena, or to protect our rights
  • Business Transfer: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale

5. Data Retention

  • Account data: Retained while your account is active and for 30 days after deletion
  • User content: Retained while your account is active. Deleted upon account deletion
  • Page view events: Retained for 12 months for analytics
  • Server logs: Retained for 90 days

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction: Update inaccurate information
  • Deletion: Delete your account and associated data
  • Restrict Processing: Opt out of aggregate data analysis

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), hashed passwords (bcrypt), and secure session management. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute data security.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

9. International Users

The Service is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the US, your data may be transferred to and processed in the US. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
