Dossier

A Wedding to Die For is a fully improvised murder mystery dinner game for 16—25 players, designed to be hosted at home without a professional cast or facilitator. The setting is a wedding reception. The groom has been murdered. Every guest at the table is a suspect. Unlike scripted murder mystery box sets — which provide fixed dialogue and clues leading to a predetermined solution — A Wedding to Die For is built entirely around player improvisation. Each player receives a detailed character briefing before the event, arriving at the dinner table already knowing who they are, what secrets they carry, and what motives they have. There are no scripts and no lines to read aloud. The murderer knows their identity from the start and must conceal it while the other guests spend the evening interrogating, accusing and improvising their way toward the truth. Clue cards are revealed progressively throughout the meal, deepening suspicion with each course. The evening ends with an accusation round and the unmasking of the killer. The result sits closer to collaborative theatre than traditional board gaming — social, performance-driven, and entirely unpredictable. Every group produces a different evening. Format: Print-and-Play digital download. Print at home or at a local copy shop. No special components required. A Wedding to Die For is part of The Murder Mystery Guide's library of 11 improvised murder mystery dinner games, spanning themes from a White Lotus-inspired island resort to an Illuminati conspiracy and a five-star hospital scandal. All titles are available as instant digital downloads worldwide. World premiere: March 2026, Penhill Farm, Cape Town, South Africa.
