Dossier
Among 12 is a social deduction game set among a crowd of 5000, miraculously fed from a boy’s lunch, and leaving twelve baskets behind. Now, the mission is clear - do not waste what remains, and share the miracle. But not everyone agrees. Some seek to silence the message and keep the truth from spreading. Each player is secretly assigned one of three roles. Some work to ensure the baskets are shared, carefully observing and reasoning through others’ actions. Others aim to create confusion, disrupt trust, and waste the baskets without being revealed. A few thrive in uncertainty, benefiting when balance is maintained. Your identity is hidden, but your choices and how you justify them, shape how others see you. The game unfolds over multiple rounds. In each round, players build trust by sharing bread, influence decisions, and take part in missions where baskets are filled in secret. Bread and Rat cards determine whether a basket is shared or wasted, tugging the truth to either side. But outcomes alone don’t reveal who is responsible. Players must observe behavior, question motives, and interpret subtle clues to understand who is working toward which goal. The game ends when 12 baskets have been used. If enough baskets are shared, Disciples win. If too many are wasted, Pharisees win. If the result is balanced, Citizens win. To succeed, you must not only play your role well, but also understand others and decide who to trust before it’s too late. —description from the designer
