About

BIOlink is an educational card-laying game about food webs in two different ecosystems: a European woodland edge and an African savanna. Players place animal and plant cards into a shared grid and connect them with arrows to show feeding relationships. Each arrow points from the food source to the organism that eats it, making the flow of energy through an ecosystem visible. By placing cards next to one another, players create food chains that gradually grow into a complex food web. BIOlink includes two modes. In the cooperative basic game, players work together to build the most connected 4×4 food web possible. In the competitive expert game, players build a 5×5 grid around the sun card and score points for each valid feeding relationship they create. BIOlink is designed for biology education and family play. It helps players understand food chains, food webs, producers, consumers, predators, prey and ecological interdependence through spatial planning, comparison and discussion. —description from the designer
