Dossier
For years, monsters have emerged from the Cave of Ederoth, spreading across the surrounding lands and turning once-stable regions into chaotic battlefields. Efforts to eliminate them failed, so the kingdoms adopted a different approach: instead of fighting monsters, they began investing in them. By supplying resources such as wheat, meat, herbs, potions, and magical stones, kingdoms profit from monster activity as these creatures battle one another and bring back gold. Players take on the role of investors seeking to build the most successful monster-based economy. In DUNGEONOMICS, players invest resources to gain returns from monsters active on the field. By placing investments on specific monsters, players earn gold when those monsters win battles and remain in play. However, monsters can be defeated and removed, causing any associated investments to lose their value. Players must balance risk and reward when choosing where and when to invest. The game is played over four rounds. During each round, players allocate resources, anticipate the outcomes of monster battles, and adjust their strategies based on the shifting state of the battlefield. As monsters clash and are eliminated, new opportunities and risks emerge, shaping each session differently. At the end of the fourth round, players total the gold earned from their investments. The player with the most gold wins the game. -description from designer
