Great Man Cards

Great Man cards (上大人牌) are character cards, like "chess cards" or their ilk whose characters come from the Confucian classic copybook "On the Great Man" (上大人). The cards come in a variety of formats with as few as 24 types of cards and as many as 27. They are used primarily to play vaguely Rummy-like games and stem almost exclusively from Hubei province.
