About

Joinway is played on a 20×20 grid (other sizes can also be used), initially filled in a checker-board pattern with Othello discs. On the board, the North and South edges get marked black, and the East and West edges get marked white. On the very first turn, P1 flips any single enemy disc. Subsequently, starting with P2, players take turns flipping all enemy stones in a 'recruitment zone'. A recruitment zone is defined as any (2s)×(2s) square containing 4 s×s square quadrants, for which: 2 diagonally opposite quadrants ONLY contain friendly stones, AND 2 diagonally opposite quadrants BOTH contain at least one enemy stone. A player wins when, at any time, their marked edges are connected via a path of orthogonally adjacent friendly discs. —description from the designer
