Knulli Bullis Kreuz und quer
(1973)
About
Players take turns rolling the die. Anyone who rolls a 6 may place a Knulli figure of their color on their starting space—specifically, on the corner space marked with a six. This brings them into the game and entitles them to roll again. With each subsequent roll, a player's Knulli figure may be moved forward by exactly one space in any direction—vertically, horizontally, or diagonally—provided it lands on an adjacent space displaying the number rolled on the die. A move must be made if possible; if none of the adjacent spaces match the rolled number, the player must skip their turn. If a player rolls a 6 at any point during the game, they must first bring another one of their Knulli figures onto the board and are then entitled to roll again. Once a player has all four of their Knulli figures in play, rolling a 6 allows them to move one of their pieces to any adjacent space of their choice. If a player moves to an adjacent space that is already occupied by a Knulli figure — even one of their own — they must "knock it out." The knocked-out piece must then return to its owner's starting space to begin the journey all over again. To enter the target corner space located directly opposite the start, a player must once again roll a 6. Rolling a 6 allows the piece to complete its journey and take its place within the target area. The first player to successfully get all four of their pieces into the target area wins the game.
