About

One Vertex. One Conqueror. The rest are flying down. On the sacred mountain of Edirion, only a single climber may sit upon the Throne. From four sides of the world, challengers ascend the slopes: step by step, through falling rocks and sudden avalanches, they race to seize – and hold – the summit. Every turn is a tense choice: climb higher, reposition on a fragile ridge, or prepare to knock a rival back to the base. Mountain Throne: Abstract Ascent Evolved – Edition is a fast tactical abstract game for 2-8 players in which everything is decided by one central cell. Each player controls only one conqueror, climbing along direct routes from the edges of the field to the central peak. The movement is set by a simple die roll, but real strategy is born from timing, positioning, and the ability to read opponents' intentions. The summit can never be shared. When a challenger steps onto the peak, they immediately confront the current ruler in a direct dice duel. The victor stays on the Mountain Throne; the loser is hurled back down to start the ascent anew. Short, sharp clashes for control keep every game tense and highly interactive. A rotating compass at the summit lets the current ruler trigger devastating avalanches in one of four directions. Static boulders carve the battlefield into narrow chokepoints and risky shortcuts. A well timed avalanche can erase an entire climb in a single moment – or leave the ruler exposed if they misjudge the timing. With minimal rules, clear geometry, and high replayability, Mountain Throne distills conflict over a single, vital point into an elegant contest of timing, risk management, and positional play. Reach the peak. Win the duel. Survive the fall. —description from the designer
