About

Welcome to Portinari | Master Pieces. A cozy, light strategy game featuring breathtaking masterpieces. Some works are born of a gesture. Others, of silence. Still others, of patient observation. There are those that only come into existence when fragments learn to recognize one another. In Portinari | Master Pieces, you do not paint with brushes or mix colors on a palette. Here, the creative act lies in reconstruction. Fragment by fragment, memory by memory, you become part of an intimate process that transforms scattered shapes into images rich with meaning. Each Composition Piece holds more than just color and outline. It carries the weight of the earth, the weary stride of the laborer, the dry wind of the *sertão*, and the attentive gaze of one who observes the world and insists on translating it into art. As you place them into your Frame, you are not merely assembling an image; you are reconstructing a visual narrative that speaks of people, time, and a sense of belonging. Portinari believed that art should be human before it is beautiful. His figures have large hands because they work. Their feet are firm because they belong to the soil. Their colors breathe dust, sweat, childhood, and hope. In this game, every decision echoes that philosophy: there is no rush, only attentiveness. There is no chance, only a sensitive reading of the whole. The Masterpieces do not reveal themselves all at once. They call for observation, exchange, adjustments, and careful choices. Sometimes, you must yield a piece to better understand the whole. At other times, simply shifting your perspective is enough for everything to fall into place. And what is your role in this game? Here, you are neither the work's creator nor merely its observer. You take on the role of a Master Restorer—the one who tends to the image before it fully comes into being. The one who sustains the time of the work while it is still a fragment, ensuring that each part returns to its place with rigor, respect, and precision. Your role as a Master Restorer is not to invent, but to reveal. It is not to hasten, but to preserve the work's rhythm. As a Master Restorer, you work with constant attentiveness, safeguarding the visual and symbolic integrity of the image being reconstructed. Your role is to interpret what each fragment suggests and respond with precision. When selecting, rotating, swapping, or positioning a piece, you assume the responsibility of one who understands that every image carries history, intention, and symbolism. You are the mediator between memory and form. The gaze that recognizes. The hand that reorganizes. The gesture that respects. In the end, when the Panel is complete, it is not merely the image that emerges before you. There also arises the rare sensation of having taken part in something greater—a silent dialogue between play, art, and memory, unfolding in a comfortable and timeless way. —description from the publisher
