Dossier

The Council of Anderian is a competitive yet highly interactive board game that blends strategy, intrigue, and roleplay. Each player leads one of the Great Houses of Anderian, competing to earn prestige and be the first to reach 7 victory points by the end of the year. There are five paths to victory: politics, religion, war, economy, and intrigue. Each path dominates a different phase of the game, forcing players to adapt their plans, read their rivals, and seize opportunities at the right moment. Every player holds a Council position that grants unique strengths tied to a specific strategy. The Marshal excels during the war phase, while the Inquisitor thrives in intrigue, for example. The Council itself is led by a player: the Regent, who assigns positions to the other players. On top of that, each player receives a secret Personality Trait. Some will be driven to support the Regent, while others will bide their time and wait for the perfect moment to betray and overthrow them. This is where shifting alliances, negotiation, and uneasy cooperation come to life. And when alliances become too strong, there is always a darker solution: assassination. Secretly eliminating a key ally can shatter a dominant coalition and throw the balance of power back into chaos. But death is not the end. If your character is killed, you simply draw a new Trait card for your House and continue the game as your heir. You stay in the struggle, but you will need to rebuild your alliances, regain influence, and win back the support of the factions if you want to reclaim your place at the heart of the Council. —description from the designer
