Dossier

“Earth as we know it is threatened, but not now, in the past! Since the discovery of time travel and the translocation gene, you have been worried about the possible threats. Now those threats are being realised, and if the small team of specialists you have brought together can’t keep us safe, the world will suddenly change, and we will never realise it! This is a war, but one we never imagined, and the fight will take us throughout history, and even to alternatives we never imagined!” The Wardens of History is a tabletop miniatures game with a small number of figures per game, that is the most miniature agnostic game you could wish for, as every battle takes place in a historical or even non-historical setting of your own choosing. What you have here is a set of Story Arcs. Each consists of 15 games that revolve around a specific story. Your team will improve and may get additional equipment which will be needed to take on the steadily more challenging battles. The whole thing becomes a narrative that will differ from campaign to campaign, enabling you to play it through multiple times without being the same. The rules are not aiming to be in any way a detailed simulation of armed combat, instead they concentrate on getting into the action as quickly as possible. They have also been specifically designed to be played solo. You completely control your team, but the adversaries start as randomly moving markers until you spot them and then their reactions are driven by rolls of the dice. All the games in the Horrendous Gaming Adventure System use the same dice mechanics, so that you don't have to learn a completely different system when wanting to switch to a different genre. You’ll need your own figures for the Warden and their team of 10, around 12 adversaries for each period you want to use, and around 10 bystanders. A 2 foot square or 3 foot square playing area, ideally with suitable terrain for the period. Also 2D10 and 25 things you can use as markers while the adversaries and bystanders are still unknown. —description from the publisher
