About

Honeycrisp is a two player trick taking game where the trump suit can change each round, risks are rewarded, and shrewd exchanges are necessary to sneak out a win from the opponent. After each trick, players draw from the stock of undealt cards, with the winner choosing to leave the card indicating trump where it is, or add it to their hand. Players also have the option to close this stock early in order to win more points, at the risk of doing so with only the cards in their hand. The goal of each round is to be the first player to get 30 or more trick points, which is half the available points in the deck. The first player to do so earns at least 1 Apple, with the opportunity to gain up to 3 per round if they’re brave enough. The game was designed for use with Sean Ross’s Trifle deck, but playable with a standard deck as well. There are also many features taken directly from the classic traditional trick taker Schnapsen such as may follow to must follow and closing the stock. —description from the designer
