About

Upon the Khagan’s death, the clans of the Mongol Empire gather for the Kurultai—a grand assembly of chieftains and dignitaries—to select his successor. Each player represents a clan that has sent a delegation to the Kurultai. In each session, the clans attempt to rally Supporters—tokens that measure their political influence—to their candidate, discredit their rivals, and manipulate the protocol to have themselves proclaimed Khagan. Each clan starts with the same 7 Role cards, but must carefully choose which of its emissaries to deploy throughout the Kurultai, which lasts a maximum of 7 sessions. Supporters are in limited supply: they circulate between the clans and the Golden Yurt, making every gain or loss a political opportunity. At the center of the proceedings, the Chamberlain opens the sessions and may challenge other players’ announcements, at the risk of strengthening those he falsely accuses. —description from the publisher
