About

Three ancient seals hold back the Dark, and the stone is wearing thin. The Sealed Dark is a tense cooperative dungeon crawl for 1-2 players, built on a single tension: you must grow strong enough to seal away and fight the Dark but the longer you take, the fiercer the fight becomes. Choose between four heroes and lead your party through a dungeon that grows more treacherous over time. You must plan your path across encounters, mysteries, and rests to bind three seals as corruption builds. Strengthen your party as you go by gaining dice, equipment, leveling up your heroes, and earning ember, the resource that keeps you going. But plan carefully because binding a seal costs dice permanently so binding too soon leaves you too weak for the fight ahead. Encounters are won by precision, not pure power. You must land inside a narrow band forcing you to split your dice, abilities, and equipment between offense and defense. Overshoot and you win nothing, fall short and your path stays blocked while the party is punished. Ember pays for the camps that refresh you but it also cleanses corruption and can change the course of an encounter. Budget carefully because camping is required and a cold camp risks wounding the party. Mystery tiles are where you may trade resources and sometimes find yourself ambushed. Every turn is a trade. Cleanse the corruption or push toward a seal? Press on to the next node risking fatigue, or camp now to refresh and risk corruption? Which resources defend and which attack? A board of 27 nodes is dealt at random during setup with encounters and mysteries revealing their details only when the party arrives. No game plays the same and the party that reads the dungeon while spending well is the one that succeeds. —description from the publisher
