About

You enter the tavern. There is a table with an empty seat. You recognize the cloaked figure who sits there. It is late in the evening, and the crowds have gathered to forget the day. You sit facing your accomplice, pull out a map, and begin your conversation. You hope no one is listening, but you are prepared for that. Nobody will understand a word. Thieves' Cant is a team-based communication game where the guards and the thieves will try to outwit each other. The thieves, two outgoing volunteers, will have a secret method of communicating about what they want to steal. Will they tap the table a certain number of times? Gesture in a secretive way? Improvise songs? They can do just about anything as long as they successfully communicate which of nine possible targets they are going after.... and for how much of a reward. Once they have done so, the guards, however many there are, will debate about how to use their resources to catch the thieves in the act, as well as get clues to their secret communication methods. Will the guards close in on the thieves in time? Or will the thieves get away with the loot? A game that pitches two witty players against the rest, Thieves' Cant is an experiment in performance, deduction, and trickery for extroverts and introverts of all kinds. -description from designer
