About

2349: Space Prospectors takes place in the year 2349. A cluster of Asteroids have been discovered near a distant colony. These asteroids are rich in a rare mineral called Unobtainium and a 24th century version of a “gold rush” has begun. To begin, players flick asteroids, including a home base asteroid onto the playing field. Players take on the role of Prospectors. Controlling up 4 ships, players expend fuel cards to fly ships from their home camp asteroid to unexplored and unclaimed asteroids. Ships land on the asteroids and, using the fuel cards, drill into these lumps of rock to extract the Unobtainium. In the spirit of the Wild West, each player wants to lay claim to asteroids with the largest Unobtainium amounts. Beware, opponents can wrestle control of your asteroids using show-downs and claim-jumps. Worm hole cards are drawn at the end of each turn that can cause mechanical failures, alien encounters, navigation errors, fuel caches, gamma radiation and disruption of the asteroid field as new asteroids are flicked into the playing area. The Game ends when a Cruiser carrying the Colonial Governor arrives to establish Law and Order. Whomever controls the asteroids with the highest Unobtainium values wins. Beware the Alien Invasion where controlling 2 Alien Asteroids wins the game!
