About

Hero's Journey is a fully cooperative, card-based, adventure game with rogue-like elements to be enjoyed solo or with up to 5 of your closest friends. Experience adventure with 12 unique Heroes as you navigate through dozens of guided Encounters with dangerous Monsters, intriguing Scenarios, and mesmerizing Locations; all with plenty of Loot and ever-changing Qualities to ultimately face the deadly Boss waiting at the end of the Round. No session is quite the same with dynamic, journey-altering gameplay and creative Quests. There's no time to waste, gather your party and embark on your own Hero's Journey! The game is played with cards, dice, and tokens in a series of Rounds with a set number of Encounters in each and concluded with a Boss fight. Each player takes a turn as the Revealer, to flip an Encounter card face up to resolve combat with a Monster, make decisions in a Scenario, or feel the effects of a new Location. Play then continues with a new Revealer each Encounter until ultimately facing a Boss at the end of the Round. Throughout the game, Qualities and Loot will play a huge part in the success or failure of the Party's journey. There are intangible Qualities that provide new active Abilities or passive Positive/Negative Traits with lingering effects. Additionally, there are physical Loot objects with powerful one-time or on-going effects. Players can never be too comfortable with their load-outs as these elements of the game are constantly changing. This is a new take on the well-loved fantasy RPG genre allowing for solo or group play with up to six players who may all enjoy the experience simultaneously. The self-narrating story provides an opportunity for everyone to be a part without a game master or hours of preparation. The design allows for simple set-up and a low learning curve including jump-in-jump-out play without compromising on the amount of depth the experience provides. With 148 cards in the base deck and character perma-death, you'll never play the same adventure twice thanks to the well-thought out rogue-like mechanics. —description from the publisher
