About

In Bigram Blitz, face off in a chaotic, real-time scramble to build even-numbered words using two-letter (bigram) combinations. There are no turns and no waiting. It's a high-speed, tactile race where standard spelling rules meet pure, frantic pattern recognition. Several ways to play. DUMP – BLITZ - WIN 1. Dump: Empty all 200 bigram tiles face up into a chaotic pile in the center of the table between players. 2. Blitz: On "Go!", everyone simultaneously grabs tiles to form words of exactly 4, 6, 8, or 10 letters (requiring 2, 3, 4, or 5 tiles). 3. Win: When the tile pile runs dry and no more words can be made, players tally the point values on their completed words. The highest score wins! WHAT TO EXPECT: Instant Table Presence: Zero setup time. Just dump the tiles out of the container and the blitz begins. Brain-Bending Mechanic: Working with fixed pairs (like TH, EA, MO) forces you to rewire how you look at vocabulary. Risk vs. Reward Length Limits: Restricting words strictly to 4, 6, 8, or 10 letters creates instant tactical tension—do you settle for a quick 4-letter word to lock in points, or risk hoarding tiles to build a massive 10-letter masterpiece? Highly Scalable: Perfect as a lightning-fast party game, a casual family night opener, or an addictive solo puzzle challenge.   ADVANCED MODE - SETUP Place all tiles face down between the players Place a random tile face up between the players Each player draws 4 tiles. Place one random tile face up between the players as the start of the crossword grid. Designate a scorekeeper with pad and pen. Crossword Grid The crossword grid is where players will place tiles and collect points. A valid placement will form a word or connect to an existing word or two in up to two directions.   ADVANCED GAME PLAY Players play on their own, making words and attaching tiles into words to grow the crossword grid. Game Play - Word Formation On their own, players combine tiles into a minimum of four-letter words. Once formed, a player can draw additional tiles to maintain four in hand. Tile Placement Whenever one or more tiles can be placed on the grid, a player will attach those tiles as long a valid words can be formed. Call out your score immediately for all words formed. It is possible to make two or more words with one placement. Starting with SE, progress through SEAL, SEALED, ALSO, FEED and FELT. Further placements could be HOSE, BOLT, even COBALT. A legal play must place at least one tile from your hand and must create at least one valid word (reading left to right or top to bottom) of four or more letters. Tile Exchange and Passing At any time, you may exchange any number of tiles to maintain four in hand. Endgame and Winning The game ends when the draw pile is empty and no player can form a new word. Subtract the total value of remaining tiles in each player’s rack from their score. Add the sum of those values to the player who finished (if any). Highest total score wins. ADVANCED VARIANTS Solo Puzzle Mode: Draw 7 tiles and try to reach a target score in a set number of moves. Timed Blitz: 60 second turns; play continues rapidly for a fixed number of rounds. Team Play: Partners sit opposite each other; combine scores. Communication rules can be tightened for extra challenge. Grid Challenge: Predefine a target phrase; players cooperate to place tiles so that the leftover letters spell the phrase.
