In DC Arena, you put DC heroes against each other in a head-to-head battle. Each card features a character with attack and defense values ​​on all four sides of the card. On their turn, a player chooses a card from their hand and places it on a 3x3 grid on the table, claiming it as their own (each card marked worth one point). If a newly placed card is adjacent to an opponent's marked card, their attack and defense values ​​are compared; if the placed card's value is higher, the opponent's card also becomes owned by the attacking player. Once the grid is full, the player who has most marked cards wins the round, and a new round begins. The first player to win two rounds wins the game. The game also features an advanced mode: some cards have "specialty" icon. There are several different Specialties that have advantages over one another, changing the simples "compare values" rule. With two copies of the game, it is possible to play with four players (in teams of two).
