Dilettante

Dilettante is a one-versus-many party game where players take turns attempting to guess a prompt based on written clues. Each round, one player - the Scholar - selects a prompt and prepares a handful of one-word clues about that prompt. Most of the other players - the Students - work together to submit a single collective guess on their turn, scoring both the Scholar and all Students points. However, one other player acts as the titular Dilettante who can only see one or two of the clues the Students can, yet can spend their turn making as many wild guesses as they like before time runs out in hopes to stumble into the right answer. It is up to the Scholar to prepare clues that - when taken individually - aren't very helpful, but make sense when looked at together. In addition, the Scholar prepares a canard - a false clue intended to misdirect and confuse the Dilettante. Despite all this, if the Dilettante is able to correctly guess the prompt before the Students, that player alone gets points. Turns alternate back and forth between the Dilettante and the Students until the prompt is guessed or the clues are depleted. The round is scored and players change roles in preparation for the next round - one round per player. At the end of the game, the player who has accumulated the most points wins. —description from the designer
