Use your math skills to navigate a matrix of numbers. Follow the vectors to beat your opponent. Setup Build the Grid: Randomly place the 104 number tiles into the lasercut frames to create a massive 8x13 grid. Ensure that at least one frame next to each corner has an arrow that points to the corner exit. Also ensure that a corner frame has at least two arrows pointing outwards. Starting Positions: Players start near each outer corner of the grid such that three numbers are immediate within reach as your starting vector. Move when your math outcome matches one number. Gameplay Players take turns rolling the dice and calculating their movement. 1. Roll the Dice: On your turn, roll both dice. 2. Calculate Your Choices: You must combine these two digits using Addition, Subtraction, or Multiplication to find your possible movement numbers. For example rolling 3 and 4: Add: 3 + 4 = 7 Subtract: 4 - 3 = 1 Multiply: 3 x 4 = 12 If in doubt, check the cheat sheet. 3. Navigate the Maze: Look at the sector your token is currently standing on. Plan your route. Check the directional arrows pointing to the immediately adjacent sectors (orthogonally or diagonally, depending on the tile's arrows). If an adjacent tile matches one of your calculated numbers AND an arrow allows you to move into that tile's direction, you may slide your token onto it. 4. No Matches? (The Dead End): If none of your calculated outcomes match an legally accessible adjacent tile, your token is stuck for this turn. Pass the dice. 5. Stuck? You may rotate any unoccupied frame one or more turns, then pass the dice. This is helpful in many escape situations. Winning the Game & Tournament Play Round Winner: The first player to successfully navigate the maze and land on their designated opposite corner tile wins the round. Tournament Play: Play three rounds. Before each new round, players must pop out and swap at least 20 tiles to completely reprogram the maze layout! The player who wins the most rounds is crowned the Ultimate Math Maze Master. ? Solo Mode: "Beat the Rolls" Place your token at one corner. Give yourself a limit of 20 total dice rolls (use tokens or a track to count down). Can you find a mathematical path to the diagonally-adjacent corner before you run out of rolls? Roll until you make it to the corner of run out of rolls. Educational & Cognitive Benefits Playing Math Matrix offers tremendous developmental perks for kids and adults alike: Fluency in Mental Math: Instead of just drilling flashcards, players must rapidly run through three different operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication) on every single turn to evaluate their options. Spatial Reasoning & Grid Navigation: Players learn to map out coordinates and think ahead, balancing the directional freedom of the arrows against the randomness of the dice. Strategic Decision Making: Sometimes, multiplying gives a player a massive number, but adding gives them a smaller number that actually moves them closer to the exit. The game teaches kids that the "biggest" math answer isn't always the best choice. Probability Awareness: Players naturally begin to realize that numbers like 0–12 appear much more frequently through multiple operations, whereas a 36 requires a rare perfect roll (6 times 6), teaching early lessons in probability. —description from the publisher
