Play Safe
(1951)
About
Play Safe is a 1951 game of traffic safety. The board has a network of interconnected squares, each marked with a safety slogan. These may force the player to pay money into the Safety Fund or Courtesy Fund squares or allow players to collect money from these spaces. Players may also land in Jail or Hospital, and may have to pay other players as well. Sample spaces include: "The Speed that thrills is the Speed that Kills"; "There's a child in your future... Don't let careless driving make him a cripple"; "Jay-Walking is a short cut to Hospital". The back of the board is elaborately decorated with a collage of photographs and newspaper articles about traffic accidents and their consequences. —user summary
