Trivia Pirates is a trivia-based strategy game for 3 to 6 players/teams in which players take on the roles of cat pirates sailing the high seas, racing to claim the legendary Chest of Questionable Glory. The game is played over a series of trivia questions drawn from a companion webapp, which allows teams to customize their topic selection and difficulty level before each game. Correct answers move a team's ship forward and earn coins while incorrect answers pass the question to the next player/team. What separates Trivia Pirates from a standard trivia game is its dual economy of knowledge and sabotage. Coins earned from correct answers can be spent on Sink Cards — attack and defence cards that introduce a strategic layer to every question. After each question is revealed, teams can play Sink Cards face down, triggering a Battle of the Sink Cards in which the highest-power card takes effect. There are six types of Sink Cards - Loot Question lets a team steal a rival's question and answer it themselves. Scrap Question replaces a question with a new one. Piggyback lets a team bet on a rival answering correctly and move forward with them. Card Shield blocks lower-power cards. No Pass prevents the question from passing to other teams. Wildcard, the most powerful card, can be declared as any other Sink Card but only when played as a pair. Between questions, teams enter a Spend phase where coins can be spent to Backtrack rivals, Double Move forward, claim an Extra Turn as direct team, or Freeze opponents out of the next question entirely. Coins can be pooled across teams, encouraging temporary alliances and inevitable betrayals. A team wins by reaching the sixth step on the treasure map — the Chest of Questionable Glory — without being Backtracked by rivals. The game also features a companion webapp with thousands of questions across hundreds of topics, ensuring no two game nights play the same way.
